Day 14, 15 and 16 of #100HappyDays: Food

Comida! Nesta última quinta-feira e sexta-feira os dias estavam maravilhosos, tal como toda a semana.  A primeira foto é do meu almoço que estava delicioso e saudável.

A segunda foto é do lanche das 18h que simplesmente adoro! Estas tostas mistas especiais são divinais e para mim até dá perfeitamente para uma refeição! Sem dúvida que é um bom lugar para ir depois do trabalho! Obrigada P. ;) 
A terceira é referente a Sábado, e foi este cachorro quente num dos mais conhecidos pub's da Madeira. Apesar de estar bom, e estava, é pena ter de esperar 45 minutos (!) pelo comer, mas valeu a pena pelo tempo passado com a família num sábado à noite. 

Food! Last Thursday and Friday, the weather was fantastic, has has been all week long. The first photo, 

thursday's lunch, which was delicious and so healthy. Perfect for a break of a day at the office.

The second photo, was my "afternoon snack"! These special sandwiches are divine and the place is cozy!! No doubt that is a good place to go after work! So, thank you P! ;)
The third photo was saturdays' dinner: a hot dog in one of the most popular pub's in  Madeira. Despite being good, and it was, it's a shame that we had to wait 45 minutes (!)! To much time! But, it were a 45 minutes well spent with family on a Saturday evening.

Uma boa salada de queijo fresco num dia de sol, definitivamente fez-me feliz hoje!

A delicious salad was a big plus today! It's was perfect for a sunny day, like today! Definitely made me happy!

Perfect PicNic!

Se alguma vez precisarem de fazer uma festa de aniversário diferente, um Picnic é uma excelente solução. Além de não desarrumarmos a casa, a festa é feita na natureza e há espaço para muitos convidados. Aqui na ilha, há cenários perfeitos com excelentes condições! Fica aqui alguns detalhes desta festa de aniversário.

If you ever want to do a different birthday party, than a Picnic is a great solution. Besides the fact that we won't need to clean our house after the party, with a picnic the party will be surrounded by nature and there is room for many guests. Here on the island, there are perfect scenarios with excellent condition! Here is some details of the birthday party! The weather was great and the food.. so good! 

Spring Break!

Antes de mais, este ano está a passar muito rápido! Estamos quase a entrar na Páscoa e parece que foi ontem que o ano começou!

Para muitos de vocês esta época é uma das mais antecipadas e entende-se a razão: afinal férias são sempre férias. Espero que tenham escolhido bem o local onde vão passar estes dias. Caso não estejam de férias, procurem sair de casa nos vossos tempos livres e aproveitar o sol e as temperaturas de primavera que já se vai sentindo. Experimentem comer num restaurante novo; façam actividades físicas nos jardins das vossas cidades; procurem ir a eventos culturais perto de casa; combinem com os amigos uma saída à noite; vejam uma série ou filme que já andam a adiar; convidem os vossos amigos e familiares para um lanche ou jantar temático da páscoa na vossa casa, surpreenda-os! Porque não fazer um jogo, onde cada convidado traz uma sobremesa e a melhor ganha? 

Outra maneira de assinalar esta altura é mudar alguns elementos de decoração em casa. Assim evitamos a monotonia e a rotina. 

Finalmente, e porque afinal é importante relembrar a base da Páscoa, aproveitem para ver a bem conseguida mini-série do canal História, The Bible, que tem o actor português Diogo Morgado como Jesus. 

O que vão fazer durante estas semanas de Páscoa?

First of all, this year is going by so fast! We're about to enter Easter and it seems like yesterday that the year has begun!

For many of you this season is one of the most anticipated. After all holidays are always welcome. 

I hope you have chosen the right place where you will spend these days. If you are not on holidays, try to enjoy the most of your free time. Enjoy the sunshine and the spring temperatures. 

Go out to eat in a new restaurant; try some outdoor activities that combines both fun and workout; seek to go to cultural events close to home; go out with your friends to a pub/club;  watch a tv show or a movie that you already postponed; invite your friends and family for an Easter themed dinner at your house, surprise them! Why not you organize a game where each guest brings a dessert and the best one wins?

Another way to enjoy this season is to change some decor elements in your house, so we can avoid the monotony and routine.

Finally, because after all it is important to remember the cause of Easter, watch the very well done mini-series on History Channel, The Bible, with the Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado as Jesus.

Welcome December

Bem-vindo Dezembro! O mês das festas, da alegria e da família. Com um ano tão amargurado pelas notícias negativas nada melhor do que relembrar os verdadeiros valores. É um mês de enviar mensagens e telefonarmos a amigos, reunir com a família e cumprir todas a tradições culturais. Na Madeira temos muitas tradições e todas elas são divertidas, entre amigos e familiares, e com muita e boa comida. Este mês irei vos falar sobre essas tradições e trazer-vos comigo a passear pela ilha. Espero que me acompanhem sempre.

It's with a great happiness that I welcome December! The month of festivities, joy and family. With one year so embittered by the negative news, nothing is better than remembering the true values​​. This month is the one that we must send messages and call friends, gather with family and fulfill all the cultural traditions. Here in Madeira (Portugal) we have many traditions and all of them are among friends and family, and with great and good food. This month I will tell you about these traditions and bring you with me to the island. I hope that you'll always join me.

Welcome September!

O Verão está a terminar e ainda há muito por fazer antes de acabar; objectivos que ainda não foram cumpridos. Mas acredito que tudo vai correr bem e não vou desistir! 
Agora, com as férias terminadas é altura de rever o Verão. O reencontro com os amigos, as festas, as saídas à noite, os vestidos de verão e as viagens (que vocês acompanharam nos últimos posts) e ter sido fotografada em Praga por uma estagiária da Cosmopolitan para a página do Fb da versão checa! Inesquecível!  Agosto foi fantástico e quem é da ilha sabe que é o mês dos arraiais, o dos amigos. E foi também um mês muito bom porque todos os dias vi os números de visitas do blog sempre a aumentar. Obrigada!! 


Summer is ending and there is still much to do; golds that haven't been reached yet. But I believe that everything will be accomplished and I will not give up!
Now that the holidays have finished it's time to review the summer: meetings with friends, festivals, nights out, summer outfits and the great roadtrip (that you read in recent posts) and being photographed in Prague by an intern for the Cosmopolitan of CR fb page! Unforgettable! August was fantastic and who visited the island knows that it's the month of the "arraiais" and friendship.  It was also a rewarding month because every day the blog visits were always increasing. Thank you!!

From Czech Republic with Love: Prague (I)

Deixámos a capital para o fim e três dias para a conhecer. Obviamente que não foi o suficiente para conhecer totalmente a cidade mas o ideal para se apaixonar. Depois de entregar o carro na rent car perto da estação central a nossa aventura começou pelas ruas de Praga. Começamos por conhecer a famosa Wenceslas Square e em poucos minutos chegamos à praça central. Simplesmente encantadora com toda a sua iluminação e com o bohemia jazz festival a decorrer. 

Prague was our last stop. In three days we explored this amazing city. I know that it's impossible to see everything in this short amount of time but trust me, it's enough to fall in love with it. After delivering the car near the central station we began our adventure on the streets of Prague. We first saw the famous Wenceslas Square and within minutes we reached the central square. It was so lovely with all the buildings lightings and even more special because of the bohemian jazz festival that was happening live. 

Nos dois dias seguintes fomos explorar a "cidade das cem cúpulas". Voltamos a escolher a ideia do Free Walk Tour e escolhemos o grupo Discover Walks Prague. De manhã fizemos a tour: The old town - trendy Prague tour. Durante uma hora descobrimos a Charles University, as ruas Flamboyant Pařížská Street e Staromák;  Josefov – the Jewish ghost town, o Astronomical Clock e toda a sua história incluindo os 12 apostolos; o famoso Grand Café Orient; o Powder Gate e Ungelt. 

Over the next two days we explored the "City of one hundred domes". Since we enjoyed so much the Free Walk Tour we did the Discover Walks Prague. First we did the old town - Prague tour trendy. For an hour we saw the Charles University; the Flamboyant Pařížská Street and Staromák; the Josefov - the Jewish ghost town; the Astronomical Clock and its history including the 12 Apostles; the famous Grand Café Orient; the Powder Gate and Ungelt. 

À tarde tivemos outro guia que nos acompanhou na Magical Prague - Charles Bridge and Kampa Tour. Com chuva à mistura foi uma das visitas mais engraçadas da viagem. Primeira vez que andamos na histórica ponte foi a correr enquanto a nossa divertida guia explicava o que mal viamos. Mas afinal esta tour era mágica pois mal chegamos à ilha o sol apareceu. Assim continuamos a conhecer o jardim, onde o Missão Impossível foi filmado, as esculturas dos bebés; o Kajka; ouvimos histórias sobre o comunismo e o pós; vimos o Devil River; e finalmente o John Lennon Wall. Antes de irmos jantar conseguimos encontrar a passagem mais pequena que existe onde até há um semáforo para passarmos. Único. 

In the afternoon we had another "native" who guided us in the Magical Prague - Charles Bridge and Kampa Tour. With rain in the mix, it was one of the funniest tours of our trip. The first time we walked in Charles bridge was so fun because we were running while our guide was explaining it. But this tour is indeed magical - we arrived in Kampa island and the sun appeared. So we kept exploring island, where the Mission Impossible was filmed; the sculptures of tv babies; the Kajka; we heard stories about communism and post communism; we went to the Devil River, and finally we visited the John Lennon Wall. Before dinner, we Spotted a narrow alley with a traffic light that you must respect! Unique.

Os primeiros dois dias foram memoráveis e com tantos promenores que é complicado cá escrever tudo. No próximo post vou escrever sobre os nossos últimos momentos na capital checa. 

The first two days were memorable and with so many details it's complicated to write down everything here. In the next post I'll write about our last moments in the Czech capital.

From Czech Republic with Love: Plzeň and Český Krumlov

Mais um capítulo foi escrito no meu livro de viagens. Desta vez dois países foram conhecidos e admirados: República Checa e Polónia. Hoje só vou falar da República Checa.

Depois de semanas a preparar a viagem, desde fazer os orçamentos de carro, combustível, hotéis até aos roteiros turísticos de castelos e lugares que tínhamos mesmo de visitar, finalmente chegou o dia de embarcar.

Another chapter was written in my travel book. This time two countries have been known and admired: Czech Republic and Poland. Today I will write only about Czech Republic.

After weeks preparing the trip, from budgets of the car, the fuel, and fees up to hotels, tours of castles and places that we should visit, the day of the departure finally came!

Pilsen

Jantar do primeiro dia: No to diet!

Depois de levantar o carro no aeroporto de Praha, seguimos em direção até Plzeň, a cidade onde a famosa cerveja Pilsner Urquell foi criada. Pena foi o tempo que nos recebeu, que quero acreditar que foi a maneira de nos abençoar: chuva e trovoada. De qualquer modo, ficamos numa humilde pensão datada do séc. XVII excelentemente bem situada. É uma cidade onde podemos conhecer a Catedral gótica de São Bartolomeu; a fábrica da cerveja Plzeňský Prazdroj já que a Pilsner Urquell foi aqui estabelecida em 1842; podemos ainda andar nos túneis subterrâneos onde antigamente os habitantes guardavam a sua comida e colocavam algumas matérias primas; e entrar na segunda maior sinagoga da Europa.

After picking up the car at the airport in Prague, we head to Pilsen, the city where the famous Pilsner Urquell was created. The worst part was the weather that welcomed us; but I believe it was to bless us: rain and lightnings. Anyway, we checked in at a humble pension from the XVII century. Pilsen is a city where we can visit the Gothic Cathedral of St. Bartholomew, the brewery Plzeňský Prazdroj where the beer Pilsner Urquell was established here in 1842. We can still walk in the underground tunnels where once the people kept their food and put some raw materials; and enter the second largest synagogue in Europe.

Český Krumlov

No segundo dia fomos para Český krumlov. Uma das cidades mais lindas que já vi. Património da Humanidade desde 1992, a cidade medieval da Boémia do Sul, tem um magnifico Castelo que podemos visitar e ver como é que os Reis viviam antigamente. A cidade tem um ambiente acolhedor e romântico, preparada para receber turistas durante todo o ano. Andar de barco no rio Vltava é uma das formas de conhecer Cesky krumlov. A melhor vista é quando subimos ao Castelo e vemos toda a cidade. Um vista fantástica. A voltar, sem dúvida.


On the second day we went to Český Krumlov. One of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. World Heritage Site since 1992, the medieval town of South Bohemia, has a magnificent castle that we can visit and see how the Kings once lived. The city has a warm and romantic feeling, ready to receive tourists throughout the year. Boating on the Vltava River is one ways to know Český Krumlov. The best view we got is when we went to the top of the Castle and seen the whole city. A fantastic view. It's a place to return, no doubt about it.
