Baltic Trip: Trakai Castle

Wow! Não tenho outra expressão para usar logo que penso no Castelo de Trakai! Simplesmente lindo!  A antiga capital do Gran Duque da Lituânia fica situada em Trakai, na Lituânia numa ilha do Lago Galvé. A construção do castelo em pedra começou a ser feita no início do séc. XIV.  A sua história incluí várias destruições e recuperações e podem ler mais sobre a sua importância aqui. O tempo estava digno do resort, muito sol e calor. Foi aqui que mais vimos turistas e o ambiente é maravilhoso. Pequenas lojas com produtos artesanais e turísticos, restaurantes à beira do lago e diversas ofertas para passear no lago. É simplesmente um destino obrigatório! Além da visita ao castelo que está muito bem organizada, com salas com boas exposições sobre a história do "Little Marienburg", que conseguimos imaginar perfeitamente como se vivia naquela época, aconselho a comerem no restaurante As Klubas! A comida aqui é deliciosa e a vista é deslumbrante! 

Wow! I have no other words to use as soon as I think of Trakai Castle! It's simply divine! The ancient capital of the Grand Duke of Lithuania is located in Trakai, Lithuania, on an island of Lake Galve. The construction of the stone castle began at the beginning of the XIV century. Its history includes several destructions and reconstructions. You can read more about its importance here. The weather was perfect as the resort, plenty of sunshine and beauty. You can meet a lot of tourists here, and actually it was the first time that we heard portuguese while we were in the baltic. 
The atmosphere is wonderful. Small crafts and souveniers shops, lakeside restaurants and a range for touring the lake. It is simply a must see destination! Besides visiting the castle museum, which is very well organized, with rooms with great exhibits about the history of "Little Marienburg", I advise you to eat at the restaurant As Klubas! The food here is delicious and the view is breathtaking!

Baltic Trip: Kaunas

Kaunas é a segunda maior cidade da Lituânia. Situa-se na confluência dos dois maiores rios lituanos, o Nemunas e o Neris, e já foi a capital provisória do país. 
Além das Igrejas e Museus, Kaunas é caracterizada também pela Laisves aleja, a avenida comercial da cidade.  Esta é a maior avenida fechada para pedestres na Europa, com 2km de comprimento. A parte mais antiga da cidade de Kaunas é a Cidade Velha. É fácil de lá chegar, é só seguir a avenida. A construção da estrutura ferroviária de Kaunas e da ponte ferroviária sob o rio Nemunas, contribuiu para o transporte de bens da região leste do Império Russo para o Império Alemão. Desta forma, Kaunas cresceu rapidamente a partir da segunda parte do século XIX. 
Foi pena o tempo que nos recebeu quando chegamos à noite! Muita chuva e trovoada, mas conseguimos jantar num restaurante bem aconselhado pela recepcionista do Hotel CentreHotel Nuova , o Restaurante Bajorkiemis City onde comemos muito bem por um preço ainda muito melhor! Lituânia foi o país mais barato do Báltico. Podemos ter uma fantástica refeição e beber uma boa cerveja por uma média de 8euros! 
A manhã do dia seguinte foi passada a conhecer a cidade e a Old Town que é muito agradável! Merece ser visitada.

Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania. It's located at the confluence of the two largest Lithuanian rivers, the Nemunas and the Neris. It became the only temporary capital city in Europe during the InterWar period, from 1843 to 1915. 
In addition to Churches and Museums, Kaunas is also characterized by Laisves aleja the shopping boulevard of the city. This is the longest pedestrian street closed to pedestrians in Europe, with 2km long. The oldest part of Kaunas city is the Old Town. It's easy to get there, you just have to walk in the avenue. The construction of the railway infrastructure and the railway bridge over the Nemunas river, contributed to the transport of goods from the eastern region of the Russian Empire to the German Empire. This way, Kaunas grew rapidly from the second half of the nineteenth century .
Unfortunately the weather was miserable when we arrived at night! Lots of rain and thunderstorms, But thankfully for the suggestion of the Hotel receptionist of CentreHotel Nuova, we went to Bajorkiemis City Restaurant, where we ate very well and the price was even better! Lithuania was the cheapest country in the Baltic. We can have a fantastic meal and drink a good beer for an average of 8euros!
The next morning we explored the city and the Old Town which is very nice! It's worth the visit.

Baltic Trip: Tallinn

Provavelmente uma das cidades mais bonitas que já visitei. Depois de me ter apaixonado por Cesky Krumlov no ano passado é impossível não passar pelo mesmo em Tallinn. A capital da Estónia está situada na costa sul do golfo da Finlândia, no centro-norte da Estónia. Com 800 anos de história, há muito por explorar em Tallinn. A Old Town é incrível, com os edifícios bem conservados onde conseguimos viajar no tempo com as músicas medievais dos restaurantes locais e com as lojas com artigos antigos. É realmente um museu ao ar livre. Gostei muito. Para poder compreender e conhecer melhor a cidade, Tallinn Free Tour é a melhor solução. Em duas horas conhecemos a cidade, ouvimos histórias com muita animação e um bom humor. Fantástico! Gostei imenso desta visita e recomendo sem qualquer dúvida. 
Para jantar fomos ao Rataskaevu16! Simplesmente delicioso com excelente atendimento e ambiente! O melhor é que saímos depois das 23h do restaurante e ainda estava de dia. Isto sim é Verão. 


Probably one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. Last Year I've fallen in love with Cesky Krumlov and this year it happen again. The capital of Estonia is situated on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, in north-central Estonia. With 800 years of history, there is so much to explore in Tallinn. The Old Town is amazing, with well-maintained buildings where we can travel back in time to the medieval era, with music and food of local restaurants and shops with antique items. It's really a museum outdoors. I liked very much. To be able to understand and know the city, Tallinn Free Tour is the best solution. In two hours we explored the city, we heard stories with lots of entertainment and a good humor from our guide. She was Fantastic! I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend without any doubt.
For dinner we went to Rataskaevu16! Simply delicious with excellent service and atmosphere! The best is that we left the restaurant after 23h and was still daylight. Now, that's what I call summer!

Baltic Trip: Pärnu

Pärnu é uma cidade localizada na Baía de Pärnu, na costa do Mar Báltico, no sudoeste da Estônia. 
É um afamado resort para as férias e até é conhecido por ser a capital da Estónia do Verão. Não esperava que fosse tão agradável. Gostei muito de ter passado aqui duas horas para fazer uma pausa na nossa travessia entre Riga (Letónia) até Tallin (Estónia) no nosso primeiro dia de viagem de carro. Afinal 309km chega a ser um pouco cansativo. 
Aconselho até passarem um ou dois dias nesta zona, pois no Verão é um destino fantástico e a praia é formidável. Podem também cuidar da vossa saúde com os reconhecidos Banhos de Lama.


Pärnu is a city located in Pärnu Bay, in the Baltic Sea coast, in southwestern Estonia.
It is a famous holidays resort and it's known to be the summer capital of Estonia. I gotta be honest, I did not expect it to be so nice. 
I really enjoyed having spent two hours here to take a break from our journey from Riga (Latvia) to Tallinn (Estonia) on our first day of our road trip. After all, 309km is a bit tiring.
I suggest to spend a day or two in this area, because in the summer it's a fantastic destination. The beach is great and everyone seems to be having so much fun. You can also take care of your health with the famous Mud Baths.

The Baltic trip!

Durante 9 dias o Báltico foi explorado da melhor maneira possível apesar de que se tívessemos mais dias, melhor seria. Nas próximos posts vou vos levar comigo a conhecer quatro países da Europa. Todos eles foram especiais e encantadores, com fantásticas paisagens, encantadores castelos e deslumbrantes cidades, ricos espaços verdes e maravilhosa arquitectura. 

Fica para já o desenho da viagem que fizemos. Aconselho este roteiro, pois conseguimos ver o mais aconselhado turisticamente. Normalmente os turistas que fazem esta viagem costumar ir para as Capitais  Vilnius ou Tallin para começarem a viagem, mas devido a promoçoes que encontramos online foi mais barato fazer estra travessia pela Europa de avião em vez de ir directamente para uma dessas capitais. 

Nada do que uma boa pesquisa nos motores de busca como o SkyScanner, Edreams, Momondo, Rumbo, Opodo, LogiTravel para encontrar a melhor solução financeira para a nossa viagem!

For 9 days we explored the Baltic in the best possible way. However,  it would have been nice if we had two more days. But that's ok. In the next few weeks,  I will take you with me to explore four European countries. All of them were special and lovely, with breathtaking landscapes, enchanting castles and stunning cities, with beautiful green spaces and amazing architecture.

First of all, I'll show the map that we did for this the trip. I recommend this tour because we can see the most advised touristic places. Usually, the capitals Vilnius or Tallinn are the chosen cities to start the trip, but due to promotions that we found online, it  was cheaper to make this strategic travel crossing Europe by plane instead of going directly to one of these capitals, so we started in Riga. 

Nothing like a good use of search engines like SkyScanner, Edreams, Momondo, Rumbo, Opodo, LogiTravel to find the best financial solution for our trip!
