Travel: Malaysia and Singapore (I)

Finalmente escrevo sobre "a" viagem que fiz este ano!  Tantos anos a falar sobre em fazer a primeira viagem à Ásia, e após tantos convites feitos para passar por Singapura, em Maio deste ano lá carimbamos o passaporte. 
Foram vários meses de planeamento e de pesquisa. Não, não fizemos esta viagem através de uma agência de viagem. Com a vasta informação que há online e com o valor da viagem que encontramos, não podíamos ter feito de outra forma.

O primeiro passo foi encontrar as datas perfeitas em que todos nós pudéssemos ir e marcar o voo. A nossa escolha de companhia aérea foi pela Turkish Airlines, por causa do valor e das horas perfeitas dos voos (praticamente sempre à noite). [Spoiler: Escolha certa, já que foi sempre pontual, com muita atenção no atendimento e a quantidade e qualidade de programas, filmes e séries onboard, fez com que nem se notasse tanto nas mais de 10h no avião].

O segundo passo foi escolher o nosso roteiro. Com a ajuda de sites de referência (Google Maps, TripAdvisor, Lonely Planet, ...) e blogues com testemunhos de viajantes que fizeram estes dois países, a viagem começou a ficar melhor desenhada e a ganhar cor. Assim, e depois de termos tido em conta o tempo de viagem, de transportes e de visitas em cada lugar, já tínhamos o mapa definido. 

O terceiro passo desta etapa foi pesquisar o melhor hotel, atendendo, já se sabe, à qualidade/preço, e fazer a reserva. 

A partir daqui foi tudo muito rápido até que chegou finalmente aos dias viagem. Nos próximos posts vou vos relatar da melhor maneira possível os 12 dias que estivemos a descobrir os dois países da Ásia, onde a cultura e as paisagens são maravilhosamente inesquecíveis.  

Finally, let’s talk about "the" trip I’ve made early this year! I spent so many years talking about the first trip to Asia and after so many invitations to visit Singapore, last May we finally stamped our passport.

It took several months of planning and research. It was all planned by us, not through a travel agency. With the vast amount of information that we can find online and with the fantastic airplane ticket price that we found, we could not have done it otherwise.

The first step was to find the perfect dates on which we could all go and book the flight. Our airline choice was Turkish Airlines. It had a great value and the perfect hours.  [Spoiler: It was the right choice, since it was always punctual, with a lot of attention in the details and with a great quantity and quality of programs, films and series onboard]

The second stage was to choose our itinerary. With the help of the main sites (Google Maps, TripAdvisor, Lonely Planet, ...) and travelers' blogs that had explored these two countries, the journey began to develop. So after we considered all the amount of time we had, the transportations and the period we had to spent in each place, we had our map defined.

The third phase was to research the best hotel, focusing, as we all know, in the quality / price issue, and then book them all.

It went by so fast that we finally got to the journey itself. In the next posts I will tell you, in the best possible way, about the 12 days that we spent discovering Malaysia and Singapore, where the culture and the landscapes are magnificently unforgettable.

Baltic Trip: Helsinki

Quem faz o báltico tem por costume aproveitar esta viagem e visitar a capital da Finlandia, Helsinquisa. Devido às exclentes confições que existem para atravesar o mar em duas horas e pouco com muita facilidade e conforto decidimos aproveitar. Primeiro, já escolhemos um hotel em Tallinn que  ficasse perto do porto e o City Hotel Portus*** era mesmo à frente, literalmente atravessar a passadeira. Isto é que conforto e rapidez. Depois, fomos logo de manhã e voltamos à noite de barco da companhia Tallink. 

Helsínquia é composta por várias ilhas, entre as quais a Seurasaari, Lauttasaari, Korkeasaari e o forte em Suomenlinna. Como está próxima de cidades importantes como Estocolmo (Suécia), São Petersburgo (Rússia) e Tallinn (Estónia), Helsínquia tem uma história e cultura consideradas muito importantes. 

A cidade banhada pelo báltico foi uma desilusão  não por não ser bonita ou bem apresentada, mas sim por "mea culpa". Esperava que fosse como Estocolmo ou como Dinamarca, com edifícios característicos... Depois de me ter apaixonado por Tallinn  quando fui a Helsínquia logo no dia seguinte os prédios são exactamente o que se espera de uma cidade cosmopolita, com ruas com muitas lojas e parques no centro da cidade. Um dia é suficiente para passar aqui e passear à vontade. Assim, na parte da manhã visitamos a cidade usando o sistema Hop-on Hop-Off e à tarde ficamos mesmo pelo centro. 

Usually when the baltic trip is done, it's common to visit the capital of Finland, Helsinki. Due to great conditions, it's possible to cross the baltic sea in two hours and a few minutes. It's so easy and a very comfortable journey, so we decided that this was a great opportunity to go there.  We initially choose a hotel in Tallinn that was near the port. City Hotel Portus***  was the perfect pick. Then we went early in morning and returned in the evening, on a Tallink cruise. 

Helsinki consists of several islands, including the Seurasaari, Lauttasaari, Korkeasaari and Suomenlinna. As it is close to major cities such as Stockholm (Sweden), St. Petersburg (Russia) and Tallinn (Estonia), Helsinki has rich history and culture.

The city by the baltic sea was somehow a disappointment, not  for not being beautiful or well presented, but by "mea culpa". I expected it to be more like Stockholm or as Denmark, with characteristic buildings ... The buildings are exactly what is expected of a cosmopolitan city, with streets full of shops and parks in the city center. 

One day is enough to visit it.. In the morning we explored the city using the Hop-on Hop-Off  and the rest of the day was spent in city center.

Durante 9 dias o Báltico foi explorado da melhor maneira possível apesar de que se tívessemos mais dias, melhor seria. Nas próximos posts vou vos levar comigo a conhecer quatro países da Europa. Todos eles foram especiais e encantadores, com fantásticas paisagens, encantadores castelos e deslumbrantes cidades, ricos espaços verdes e maravilhosa arquitectura. 

Fica para já o desenho da viagem que fizemos. Aconselho este roteiro, pois conseguimos ver o mais aconselhado turisticamente. Normalmente os turistas que fazem esta viagem costumar ir para as Capitais  Vilnius ou Tallin para começarem a viagem, mas devido a promoçoes que encontramos online foi mais barato fazer estra travessia pela Europa de avião em vez de ir directamente para uma dessas capitais. 

Nada do que uma boa pesquisa nos motores de busca como o SkyScanner, Edreams, Momondo, Rumbo, Opodo, LogiTravel para encontrar a melhor solução financeira para a nossa viagem!

For 9 days we explored the Baltic in the best possible way. However,  it would have been nice if we had two more days. But that's ok. In the next few weeks,  I will take you with me to explore four European countries. All of them were special and lovely, with breathtaking landscapes, enchanting castles and stunning cities, with beautiful green spaces and amazing architecture.

First of all, I'll show the map that we did for this the trip. I recommend this tour because we can see the most advised touristic places. Usually, the capitals Vilnius or Tallinn are the chosen cities to start the trip, but due to promotions that we found online, it  was cheaper to make this strategic travel crossing Europe by plane instead of going directly to one of these capitals, so we started in Riga. 

Nothing like a good use of search engines like SkyScanner, Edreams, Momondo, Rumbo, Opodo, LogiTravel to find the best financial solution for our trip!
