October Favorites!

E outro mês passou a correr! Foi a chegada do Outono e das primeiras chuvas e tempo frio. Foi o mês do início da maioria das séries, de bons filmes no cinema e de reencontros com bons amigos! Foi também um mês de mudanças e de despedidas! O importante é sempre lutar pelos nossos sonhos e é sempre um orgulho ver os nossos amigos a conseguirem! Espero que tenham tido um fantástico mês!

October was all about welcoming Autumn,the first rains, and cold weather. Most of my favorite tv shows returned to tv and many of good ones had premiered! October was also about great movies, and great family and friends gatherings! 
It was also a month of goodbyes! But I'm very proud to see my dearest friends reaching their dreams!

Hello November!!

É impressão minha ou o tempo está realmente a andar muito rápido? Eu sinceramente não me importo muito porque hoje chegamos a um mês muito especial!! Novembro é o mês das Castanhas e das Nozes, das árvores com cores cada vez mais de Outono e é o mês do meu aniversário. E este ano vai ser especial! Já tenho livros para ler e projectos novos para trabalhar! Vai ser um bom mês!
O que é que já têm preparado para os próximos 30 dias?

Is it just me or is time really going by so fast? I honestly don't care that much because today we welcome a very special month! November is the month of chestnuts and walnuts, trees with more autumn colors, and it is the month of my birthday. And this year it will be special!
I already have books to read and new projects! I think it will be a good month!
What will do differently for the next 30 days?

Baltic Trip: Kaunas

Kaunas é a segunda maior cidade da Lituânia. Situa-se na confluência dos dois maiores rios lituanos, o Nemunas e o Neris, e já foi a capital provisória do país. 
Além das Igrejas e Museus, Kaunas é caracterizada também pela Laisves aleja, a avenida comercial da cidade.  Esta é a maior avenida fechada para pedestres na Europa, com 2km de comprimento. A parte mais antiga da cidade de Kaunas é a Cidade Velha. É fácil de lá chegar, é só seguir a avenida. A construção da estrutura ferroviária de Kaunas e da ponte ferroviária sob o rio Nemunas, contribuiu para o transporte de bens da região leste do Império Russo para o Império Alemão. Desta forma, Kaunas cresceu rapidamente a partir da segunda parte do século XIX. 
Foi pena o tempo que nos recebeu quando chegamos à noite! Muita chuva e trovoada, mas conseguimos jantar num restaurante bem aconselhado pela recepcionista do Hotel CentreHotel Nuova , o Restaurante Bajorkiemis City onde comemos muito bem por um preço ainda muito melhor! Lituânia foi o país mais barato do Báltico. Podemos ter uma fantástica refeição e beber uma boa cerveja por uma média de 8euros! 
A manhã do dia seguinte foi passada a conhecer a cidade e a Old Town que é muito agradável! Merece ser visitada.

Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania. It's located at the confluence of the two largest Lithuanian rivers, the Nemunas and the Neris. It became the only temporary capital city in Europe during the InterWar period, from 1843 to 1915. 
In addition to Churches and Museums, Kaunas is also characterized by Laisves aleja the shopping boulevard of the city. This is the longest pedestrian street closed to pedestrians in Europe, with 2km long. The oldest part of Kaunas city is the Old Town. It's easy to get there, you just have to walk in the avenue. The construction of the railway infrastructure and the railway bridge over the Nemunas river, contributed to the transport of goods from the eastern region of the Russian Empire to the German Empire. This way, Kaunas grew rapidly from the second half of the nineteenth century .
Unfortunately the weather was miserable when we arrived at night! Lots of rain and thunderstorms, But thankfully for the suggestion of the Hotel receptionist of CentreHotel Nuova, we went to Bajorkiemis City Restaurant, where we ate very well and the price was even better! Lithuania was the cheapest country in the Baltic. We can have a fantastic meal and drink a good beer for an average of 8euros!
The next morning we explored the city and the Old Town which is very nice! It's worth the visit.

Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake!

Chegou à hora do lanche da tarde e ontem à noite experimentei fazer pela primeira vez o Bolo de Chocolate da Nigella Lawson, uma das minhas Chefs preferidas. Gosto muito de ver o programa dela e sinto que ela é tão honesta com a cozinha, principalmente quando vai comer os restos à noite! 

Sou muito adepta de um bom bolo de chocolate e quando vi esta receita tive de experimentar! Só o cheiro que fica é delicioso! Hoje o bolo já vai quase a meio e tenho a certeza que não vai durar até à noite! Para mim é um bolo perfeito para esta época porque o seu sabor é maduro e faz lembrar o Bolo Preto que a minha tia fazia. E isso é sempre bom! Fica aqui a receita do bolo feito na Bimby mas a ideia é a mesma.  Só sugiro reduzir o açúcar: 270gr é demasiado! 100gr é suficiente! Fiz sem o creme pois cá em casa ninguém adepto, mas parece também divinal! Um bom lanche!

It's "tea time" and last night I tried for the first time the Nigella Lawson's Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake. She is one of my favorites Chefs. I really like to watch her tv show. I feel that she is so honest with food, particularly when she eats the leftovers at night!

I am huge fan of a good chocolate cake and when I saw this recipe I had to try it! Let me just say that the smell that remains in the kitchen is fantastic! Today the cake is already almost halfway through and I'm sure that will not last until this evening! 

In my opinion it's a perfect cake for this season because its so light, moist and absolutely delicious! It reminds me of a cake that my aunt used to bake and that is always a good memory! 

Here are the recipes. I used the Thermomix but the idea is the same. I only suggest reducing sugar: 200gr is too much! 100gr is enough! I baked it without the frosting because around here nobody is a fan, but it seems divine! Have a great "tea time"!

Fall Fashion: Parka for rainy days!

Olá! Hoje tivemos um dia digno de Outono! Muita chuva e trovoada! Apesar de gostar deste tempo assim, admito que a trovoada às vezes é demais e posso passar sem ela. De qualquer modo, nós bem sabemos que com a chuva nós temos de vestir o mais confortável possível! Além das galochas (que já vos falei antes) podemos usar as Parkas como uma das melhores soluções para os dias chuvosos! Há imensa oferta a todos os preços! Fica aqui a minha lista de sugestões.

Olá! This afternoon we had a worthy Fall day! Lots of rain and thunders! Although I like this rainy weather, I admit that the thunder sometimes is "too much" and I can do without it. Anyway, we know that when it's raining, we have to dress as comfortable as possible! Besides the boots (which I've already mention before) we can use Parkas as one of the best solutions for rainy days! There are great Parkas with good quality and good price! Coffee Break!

Café! Provavelmente das minhas bebidas preferidas! Já provei em muitos países, mas o português é um dos melhores, bem lá no topo! É extremamente intenso e rico de sabor. Além do que, aqui em Portugal podemos tomar um café por 60cent! Verdade! Enquanto no resto da Europa os preços são completamente diferentes. 

Espero que hoje tenham tido bons momentos de pausa! 

Coffee! Probably of my favorite drinks! I've tasted it in many countries, but the Portuguese Coffee is one of the best, right there at the top! It is extremely intense and has a rich flavor. Besides, here in Portugal we can have a coffee by 60cent! Truth! While the rest of Europe the prices are quite different.

Se alguma vez precisarem de fazer uma festa de aniversário diferente, um Picnic é uma excelente solução. Além de não desarrumarmos a casa, a festa é feita na natureza e há espaço para muitos convidados. Aqui na ilha, há cenários perfeitos com excelentes condições! Fall: Home Decor!

Quem não gosta das cores do Outono? Os amarelos, os vermelhos, dourados, verdes escuros.. É uma oportunidade para mudar a decoração da nossa casa, muitas vezes usando o que já temos. Pelo menos ficamos com um ambiente diferente no nosso lar e mais aconchegante. A verdade é que aqui não temos muito a cultura de festejar o Outono tanto quanto outros países mas podemos inspirar-nos neles e mudar um pouco a nossa casa. Ficam aqui algumas ideias.

Who doesn't love the colors of fall? Yellow, red, gold, dark green... The changing of a the season it's the perfect excuse to change the decor of our house. The best part is that we can often use what we already have. Just DIY :)
At least we get a different atmosphere in our home. Truth to be told, here, where I live, we don't have the habit to celebrate the autumn's culture as much as other countries but we can be inspired to change  a little of our house. Here are some ideas.

Fashion: Fall Inspiration!

Diariamente precisamos de uma inspiração para nos vestirmos. Ainda para mais nesta altura que já nem é Verão e nem tem temperaturas de Outono, pelo menos aqui. Ainda não está clima suficientemente frio para usar botas mas já podemos deixar em casa as sandálias. É mais ao menos isto. Ficam aqui algumas inspirações para estes dias.

When we talk about getting outfits for each day of the week, we definitely need some inspiration. Specially at this time of the year: it's not summer anymore but it still doesn't have Fall temperatures, at least where I live. It's not cold enough to wear boots yet but we can leave the sandals at home. It's more or less like this.
