Travel: Malaysia and Singapore (IV) - Kuala Lumpur

Four hours after we left Cameron Highlands we finally reached the capital of Malaysia. With an incredible traffic and all the skyscrapers that contrasted with everything we had seen before, we knew that KL was definitely a big city. After we left the bus station we used a taxi that took us to the hotel. The metro (KL Monorail) is always a good solution but unfortunately they had a malfunction that day and everything was delayed.
We stayed at the Hotel Wolo Bukit Bintang  an Asian-style bedded room with a good view over the city. Besides the great location, the hotel is modern, with fantastic conditions and  a delicious bakery in the 1st floor. Definitely recommend and value was incredibly economical. Near by we have the Metro, taxis and a Hop On Hop Off stop, and several shopping malls such as Sungei Wang PlazaLow Yat PlazaLot 10Starhill Gallery and Pavillion KL

We dropped our bags and went straight to the city's postcard, the Petronas Towers. It is a must visit, well we knew that already, but at night it really has another charisma. The height - 452mt -, the architecture and the engineering of the two buildings are remarkable! With all the lights it gets even better. Do not be surprised if some people try to sell you iPhones and selfie sticks while you're dazzling the view...

The next morning, after a wonderful breakfast (first time I ate Eggs Benedict and loved it!), we started tour around  the city going through the main attractions  Menara KL Tower, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Central Market, Thea Hou Temple, Sin Sze Si Ya Temple, Kampung Baru, Masjid Jamek and Little India.
We ended the afternoon in China Town, where you can imagine that all the time we spent there was very limited. It is a large space with plenty of accessories and clothing, mostly fakes, but it is still a good place to discover new trends.

On the last day in Kuala Lumpur we went to Batu Caves, a Hindu sanctuary that links nature with sacred images. Just 13km north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves holds 120 years of history with its temples being visited by many pilgrims, especially in late January or early February with the three-day Hindu Festival, the Thaipusam Festival. The admission to the main Temple Cave is free but to get to the cave you have to climb 272 steps! But I assure you it is an unforgettable experience and you will have an unique view over KL. If you like monkeys will love it even more! There are dozens of monkeys along the steps. I must recommend that you should not take food with you because they steal! I know this, for sure, because I saw in front of me a bag of chocolates being taken in just 2 seconds.

Batu Caves

With the caves and the imposing monument of the god Murugan, god of war and victory, with 40 mt of height, Batu Caves is really a must visit when in KL.

My last recommendation is to carry a long scarf with you because you will need one when visiting temples. This way you can always use one that is yours.
